During the 2016 annual conference in Grand Rapids, MI there was another science based thought provoking student paper session.  This year, each student made a significant contribution to our program though their presentations that highlighted research relative to Aquatic Plant Management.  MAPMS would like to thank each student for their time and preparation in presenting at our meeting in 2016; and congratulate the winners of the student paper contest:

$300 1st Place Student Paper Contest: Kyla Iwinski – Clemson University Comparison of Laboratory and Field Responses of a Microcystin Producing Cyanobacteria (Microcystis aeruginosa) to a Copper-Based Algaecides.

$200 2nd Place Student Paper Contest: Danielle Grimm – Montana State University How General is the Trend of Increased Invasiveness of Hybrid Watermilfoil, and Do Hybrid and Eurasian Watermilfoil Show Equal Response to Endothall?

$100 3rd Place Student Paper Contest: Alyssa Calomeni – Clemson University Predicting Copper Bioavailability in Six and Twenty Cove Sediments of Hartwell Lake (Anderson, SC).

Congratulations to all the students.  We look forward to learning about the progress of their research and anticipate another outstanding group of students involved at the 2017 conference and with our Society; participating in both the Program and Poster Presentations in 2017.

We look forward to student contributions at our meeting in 2017.  Please  help spread the word about opportunities to present.
