During the 2018 annual conference in Cleveland, OH, 6 students presented in the Student Paper Contest.  This year, each student made a significant contribution to our program though their presentations that highlighted research relative to Aquatic Plant and Algae Management.  MAPMS would like to thank each student for their time and preparation in presenting at our meeting in 2018; and congratulate the winners of the student paper contest:

1st place ($300) – Tyler Geer, Ph.D. Student, Clemson University (top). “Management of Nitellopsis obtusa (starry stonewort) in a Recently Infested Minnesota Lake Using a Copper-Based Algaecide.”

2nd place ($200) – Ciera Kinley, Ph.D. Candidate, Clemson University (bottom). “Microcystin-LR Degradation Following Copper-Based Algaecide Exposures.”

3rd place ($100) – Kristen Tanz, Graduate Student, Colorado State University (not pictured). “Efficacy of Endothall+2,4-D for Curlyleaf Pondweed (Potamogeton crispus) Control Under Simulated Fall Conditions.”

Congratulations to all the students.  We look forward to learning about the progress of their research and anticipate another outstanding group of students and presentations at the 2019 conference, participating in both the Program and Poster Presentations.

We look forward to student contributions at our meeting in 2019 to be held in Chicago, Illinois.  Please help spread the word about opportunities to present.
