During the 2019 annual conference in Chicago, Il, 3 students presented in the Student Paper Contest.  This year, each student made a significant contribution to our program though their presentations that highlighted research relative to Aquatic Plant and Algae Management.  MAPMS would like to thank each student for their time and preparation in presenting at our meeting in 2019; and congratulate the winners of the student paper contest:

1st place: Tyler Geer, Ph.D. Student, Clemson University (top). “Ongoing management of an infestation of Nitellopsis obtusa (Starry stonewort) in Lake Sylvia, Minnesota, using copper-based algaecide.”

2nd place: Andrew Howell, North Carolina State University. “Consumer available sUAS

3rd place: Greg Chorak, Montana State University, “Identifying hybrid watermilfoil gene expression differences to improve adaptive management outcomes for watermilfoil control.”

Congratulations to all the students.  We look forward to learning about the progress of their research and anticipate another outstanding group of students and presentations at the 2020 conference, participating in both the Program and Poster Presentations.
